I am well aware that this is way overdue. However, I still would like to share my most used makeup products for the year 2014. I liked and discovered a lot of products last year, but I had to pick a few that I reach out the most, and these would be it.
I sometimes buy makeup on a whim especially if there are a lot ongoing sales in the beauty section. I am sure most beauty enthusiasts can relate. LOL So, last year I honesty really tried to limit myself into buying makeup that I don't really need. I think I was successful in a way since there were consecutive months where I didn't buy a single makeup. I only bought a handful of makeup that I was really lemming for and those that had been on my wishlist for the longest time.
This is where I keep the makeup products that I use personally. (Obviously, I like Teal/Mint Colors! hahaha) Since I am also a freelance makeup artist, the makeup for clients are stored separately in a hard train case.
Let's start this off with my favorite makeup products for FACE. Some of you might have already seen some of these on my Instagram account, which only shows how much I adore these products.
VMV Hypoallergenics Armada Face Cover 45 - This is my fave sunscreen to date. I use this as my makeup base or primer especially on hot days. I've noticed that this has a really good oil control power since my T-Zone stays matte all day and my makeup lasts longer. I've used the Armada Face Cover 30 and Armada Face Cover 70. They have different texture and consistency, but I like this Face Cover 45 variant more.
Mary Kay CC Cream in Very light - I was honestly skeptical when I first got my hands on this CC cream. I was never a fan of BB Creams to begin with or CC Creams for that matter. However, I really liked the texture and feel of the Mary Kay CC Cream, in addition to that, this is yellow toned, so it does not look ashy on me. I'm so glad that I didn't break out and that my skin actually looks great with this stuff on. Since I have the lightest shade, I only use this in certain areas on my face where I need to highlight. You can read my full review HERE.
Clarins Beauty Flash Balm - My glowing secret is now out! This is the product I've been using for the past three years! It instantly wakes my face up and gives me a natural glow without trying so hard. LOL. But seriously, this stuff works wonders if used right. I use this every time my face looks dull and tired (which happens to be on most mornings, hahaha). I only need a pea-size amount and pat it on my entire face, then follow it right away with my foundation powder. Then BAAM! in about 5 minutes I notice that my skin looks alive, dewy and glowing.
Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda Concealer Palette in Light - Every time my skin needs rescuing, I run to this concealer palette. It gives the perfect coverage to my pimple scars and it is very easy to blend. Best of all, it actually stays long after I set it with my Mac powder.
Elizabeth Arden Sheer Lights Illuminating Pen Concealer - I like using this to correct my dark circles since the shade I have is slightly peachy. It is very sheer and easy to blend and does not settle on fine lines. Plus it's very convenient to use.
Mac Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in NC35 - This is already my 4th Mac Studio Fix compact and it has continued to be my Holy Grail face powder. You can read my full review HERE.
For EYES and BROWS, these are my go to products.
Happy Skin Eye Am Here To Stay Gel Eyeliner Pencil in Chic Brown - I started using this ever since it was launched last year. It stays all day long and does not budge. It is my fave everyday eyeliner to date! You can read my full review HERE.
Mac Opulash Mascara - I still haven't found an HG mascara, however when I used up my Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara last year, I reached out for this Mac Opulash Mascara the most, since it defines my lashes and it works great for everyday use.
The Face Shop Style My Eyebrow Pencil in No. 3 - This is my favorite eyebrow pencil to date. One coz it's super affordable at only Php150, two coz the shade is perfect for me, and three it is super smooth to apply.
Mac Brow Set in Beguile - I know this is a bit pricey for a brow set but I still keep coming back to this. I tried cheaper ones but they don't hold my brows like this one does and I still love the shade Beguile on me. My first tube of Beguile actually lasted me for about 2 years! So it is worth it. You can check out the Mac Brow Set swatches HERE.
For Eyeshadow, these are my most used shades.
Mary Kay Mineral Eye Color in Sweet Cream, Hazelnut and Espresso.
Covergirl Eye Enhancer Eyeshadow in Mink
Wet n Wild Color Icon Single Eyeshadow in Nutty
Mac Mineralize Eye Shadow Duo in This & That
For CHEEK products, I've been loving these products from The Balm Cosmetics. Apart from the super cute packaging, they have excellent color payoff and very easy to blend. Price wise, I find them affordable compared to high end brands like MAC.
The Balm Bahama Mama for contouring
The Balm Frat Boy for my cheek blush
The Balm Mary Lou Manizer as my highlighter
These are my most used brushes for 2014. I use the Sigma Make Me Cool Travel Kit most of the time, then a few other brushes like, the Charm Luxe Retractable Kabuki Brush in Gold which I bring with me every day for my compact powder. The Artist Studio Brush for my brow bone (I found this in Landmark when I went to Manila last year). The Zoeva 322 Brow Line Brush for my brows and the Sigma E25 Blending Brush for my eyeshadows.
Lastly, for LIPS, these are most used lippie picks last year.
Mac Tinted Lipglass in Love Child - This is the only gloss I've been using a lot last year. I just adore the shade so much coz it looks like an MLBB shade only glossy. hehe
Mac Amplified Lipstick in Craving - This has become my go-to everyday lipstick ever since hubby bought it for me mid last year. I just love plummy shades.
The Face Shop FaceIt Artist Cube Lipstick in Pop Plum - A friend of mine gave this to me ("just because" she said. hehe) I really love the shade and I like using this as a stain rather than applying it full on. You can read my full review HERE.
Happy Skin Shut Up and Kiss Me Moisturizing Lippies in The Morning After and Sunset Kiss - These are just lovely shades and although they are from the summer collection, I still loved using them all year round. I love mixing these two shades together coz they create a lovely creamy-coral shade. You can read my full review and swatches HERE.
VMV Hypoallergenics Armada Lip Balm - this thing has SPF 60! that's the biggest SPF content I've found from a lip balm. Definitely a keeper!
Whew, I know that this is a rather long post, so thank you for taking your time to read it. I just didn't want to create separate posts for my 2014 hit list. hehe
Until next time.
Cheerios!

I know this post is long overdue, but I really took my time in picking out my makeup favorites for 2013. Most of the products I featured here are my go-to makeup choices.
I love to use the Mac Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation, it is my preferred everyday foundation. I used to be in the shade C40 (I already emptied out the pan), I recently bought a new one and I am now in the shade NC35. This works really well with the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm (face base), which I love to use on days my skin looks dull and tired.
Favorite Eyeshadow
Okay, so most ladies really love neutral eye shadows, I am one of them. I
just find neutrals shades attractive and easy to wear, that's why my
top choices are a no-brainer for me.
In no particular order, here are my eyeshadow faves.
Wet n Wild Coloricon Eyeshadow Palette in Vanity
Milani Single Eyeshadow in Antique Gold
Milani Single Eyeshadow in Java Bean
Favorite Face Products
I only use liquid foundation during special events or occasions, that's why I only chose one liquid foundation that I absolutely love. I prefer to use powder foundation on an everyday basis. I seldom use concealer so I did not include it here.
For full proof makeup, I use the Mary Kay Face Primer, Mary Kay Matte Wear Liquid Foundation and Mary Kay Loose Powder. I love to use this combo during special events and occasions.
On days that I feel like having a dewy face, I use the Mac Strobe Cream as my moisturizer then set it with the Milani Multitasker Face Powder, it's the only sheer powder I have, so these two works really well together. But if you have the Mac Mineralize Skin Finish Natural, it's a better option.
Favorite Lip Products
(left to right)
Revlon Kissable Balm Stain in Smitten
Miners Matte Factor Lip Paint in Warm Red
Mac Lipglass in Lovechild
Mary Kay Cream Lipstick in Melon
I switch my lippies from time to time but these are my top choices for 2013. I also used the Mac Luster Lipstick in House Wine for the first two quarters of 2013, so I actually used up the whole tube. Yeah! I'm so happy to finally finish a whole tube of lipstick... hehe
Favorite Brow Products
The Face Shop Style My Eyebrow Pencil in No. 3
Nichido Mineral Spot Concealer in Neutral
I use the Nichido concealer on my brow bone are to clean up mistakes. I seldom use an eyebrow powder so I didn't include it here. I am always in a hurry when preparing for work, so eyebrow pencils are my best friends for everyday use.
My favorite contour powder is the Mac Blush in Harmony while my favorite highlight powder is The Balm Mary Lou Manizer.
(left) Sparkling Cider (right) Strawberry Cream
These two are my favorite powder blushes for 2013. Though I still love my Milani Luminoso, I find myself using the Sparkling Cider and Strawberry Cream most of the time.
So, this concludes my top makeup picks for 2013. I'd love to know yours.
Until next time.

It's high time that you ladies know my go-to makeup products for 2012. I don't really change my personal makeup kit that often, which explains why I don't do monthly favorites. I prefer to finish one product at a time especially if it's just for personal use. However, I do keep on purchasing new makeup products if I find something interesting to add in my train case, which I use for my freelance gigs.
The Mac Prep + Prime Beauty Balm (original formula) is what I prefer to use as a face primer. I do not use this in an everyday basis. I usually apply primer on special days like a dinner date with hubby or if I'm out with friends. This face primer contains SPF 35. Contrary to what other people say, this does not give me white casts in photos at all. White casts will only show if you use a face powder with SPF as well.
I only need a pea size amount to prime my whole face with this and it does help my makeup lasts longer. The new formulation of the Mac Prep + Prime BB Beauty Balm SPF 35 now comes in a 40ml tube and available in 3 shades, Extra Light, Light, and Light Plus. Still sold at the same price as the original formula at Php1,900 at local MAC counters.
The Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Swivel Stick with Vitamin E is my favorite multipurpose moisturizer. It can be used to lighten Marks and Blemishes. It soothes Rough, Dry Skin as well as Chapped Lips. This is what I normally use to lighten pimple marks and even out scars from tiny wounds. I also use this in an everyday basis to soothe dry patches on my skin. It retails for only Php178 at Rustan's.
The Clarins Beauty Flash Balm is my favorite go to makeup base, if my face looks tired and dull. I first heard about this product through Lisa Eldridge's Youtube Channel. Then my besties Raine and Khymm, recommended this product to me. They are also the ones who gave me the sample tubes I'm currently using.
All I can say about this product is WOW! It really does what it claims to be. It simply brightens and tightens your face in a matter of minutes. You only need to apply a thin layer of this product to your face, a pea size amount will suffice. Then set it with your usual face powder. You can see the results in just a couple of minutes. The full size tube retails for Php 2,100 at Rustan's.
The Mac Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in C40, became my favorite face powder ever since I bought my first compact last 2011. Though it is expensive, I decided to repurchase since, it is the only powder I found that matches my skin tone perfectly. In addition to that, the first compact lasted for almost 10 months. The current compact I'm using is one that I bought last August 2012 and there's still so much product left. This product retails for Php1,700 at local Mac counters. You can read the full review HERE.
The Charm Luxe Retractable Kabuki, is what I love to use to apply my face powder. I do not use the free sponge that comes with my face powder compacts for several reasons. First, I find it more hygienic to use a brush rather than a sponge. Sponges tend to absorb more dirt and bacteria. Second, using a face brush gives me more control over the amount of product I want to apply and it gives a more flawless finish. Third, brushes do not absorb so much product like sponges do. Which is why one compact can last me a long time. Lastly, brushes are easier to clean especially with a brush cleaner. I don't need to keep repurchasing sponges anymore when they get all dirty. The Charm Retractable Kabuki retails for Php580, you can the full review HERE.
The Mac Powder Blush in Pink Tea, is my go to everyday blush. I just love the naturally soft pink flush it gives. It takes very little effort to blend this blush since it is already very sheer. I am not sure if this shade is still available at local Mac counters, it might be already discontinued. Mac Powder Blush retails for Php1,300.
The Mac Select Cover Up Concealer in NC30, is my favorite under eye concealer. It simply doesn't cake even if I already applied two layers. It gives medium to full coverage and easy to blend. It doesn't settle on fine lines as well. Retails for Php1,100 at local Mac counters.
The Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in Papaya, is my go to lip gloss. I don't wear lip gloss that much but when I do feel like putting a little sheen on my lips, this is what I go for. I simply adore the shade, and it's the only lip gloss I carry everyday since I'm trying to use up this huge tube. This lip gloss retails for Php575 at local Revlon counters. You can read the full review HERE.
The Prestige Classic Lipstick in Madrid, is my go to pink lipstick. I switch up lipsticks for my personal makeup kit from time to time but this is my most worn pink lipstick for 2012. Since I don't wear eyeshadow everyday, I like using this lipstick to give color to my face. Prestige Cosmetics are available at Beauty Bar.
The Etude House 66 Big Eye Vitacara Mascara, was one of the things I bought at Etude House during their 50% off sale early last year. It bought it for only Php 224 (sale price). I wanted to try it out because of the unique comb wand it has. (see photo below).
I love using this mascara for everyday use especially on my lower lash line as it is very easy to use. Unfortunately, this particular mascara is already discontinued. I still haven't checked if Etude came out with a similar replacement for this.
The Etude House Oh m'Eye Lash Petticoat, is the very first eyelash primer I tried. I already repurchased this product because apart from being super affordable at only Php198, it really works. I use this most of the time for my lower lashes because it is very sparse. This Lash Petticoat, helps lengthen and add a couple of strands to my lower lashes. You can read the full review HERE.
The Etude House Easy Brow Pencil in No. 1, is my favorite eyebrow pencil ever. I have tried brow pencils both from local and international brands with the likes of Fanny Serrano, Nichido, Styli Style, Prestige, and Wet n Wild. For that price range, only the Etude House Easy Brow Pencil worked well for me. I haven't tried brow pencils from High End brands since I find it unpractical to spend Php800 or more for just one brow pencil. The best part is, this only costs Php128 at local Etude House stores. You can read my full review HERE.
The Nichido Mineral Spot Concealer Pencil in Natural, is what I normally use to highlight and cleanup my brow bone area after I fill in my brows. It just gives my brows that clean look.
The Prestige Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in Black, is one of my best finds for 2012. I was searching for best drugstore waterproof eyeliner pencils online and stumbled on Barry M and Milani Liquif'Eye. However, they costs around Php350 - Php500 if bought on local online shops. Then I found this Prestige waterproof eyeliner pencil on Ebay.ph. I bought it right away since it was so affordable. I'm glad I did, this is the best black eyeliner pencil I've used to date. It stays all day and it doesn't budge, smudge or flake. It applies smoothly too. ^_^
This is probably the longest post I've written yet. I guess this time I blabbed to much.^_^
Until next time.
